BT Ireland has announced that in 2023, a total of €146,000 was raised to support charities throughout the country.
The communications services provider reached the figure through a number of different initiatives including its payroll giving scheme ‘Give As You Earn’ where employee donations are matched by BT Ireland; BT Activity Day, a day where BT colleagues are encouraged to get active while fundraising for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and Bumbleance; and BT Shop for Change where BT colleagues swap the desk duties to volunteer in an Irish Cancer Society store and raise much needed funds for the organisation.
In addition, BT Ireland’s responsible business plan focuses heavily on supporting educational opportunities including its sponsorship and organisation of the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition; the Dublin City University Access to the Workplace Programme which helps young people from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds to gain entry to third level education; and IT training for immigrants through the BITC Employment for People from Immigrant Communities programme.
Shay Walsh, Managing Director, BT Ireland, commented “At BT Ireland we have a long and proud tradition of supporting great causes. Our payroll giving scheme enables us to support the organisations that are close to our colleagues’ hearts while through various employee engagement activities we can come together and raise vital funds for worthy causes.”
BT Ireland has been certified with the Business Working Responsibly Mark, following an independent audit by the National Standards Authority of Ireland and Business in the Community Ireland.
